It is unfortunate that even in today’s times; many women are still struggling to be empowered. Women constantly battle against the issues of gender discrimination, inequality, and stereotypes which deeply impact their psyche and eventually hinder their growth and progress in life. Often women find it difficult to voice out their opinions and expectations in personal as well as professional life. Women often struggle hard to prove their worth in society and always find themselves fighting for their identity.
I believe every woman needs to realize her worth and understand that she is valuable and doesn’t need approval. She needs to take control of her life and awaken the empowered woman that already exists within her.
Stop proving your worth to others and start loving and nurturing yourself. Believe in yourself and do not let others walk over you or take advantage of you.
Here I am mentioning a few essential things that will make a considerable difference to the quality of your life. These are some small actions to be taken regularly and they will empower and pave a beautiful new path for you.
I am sure you already must be aware of all these simple yet powerful actions. But, knowing something makes a difference in your life when you implement it in your life and use it.
Be your authentic self
Respect yourself for who you are and do not change yourself to be liked or accepted by others. Let others see you as your true self and do not try to paint a different picture for others. Be your authentic self and speak your mind. Do not suppress your desires, dreams, and wishes to be accepted by others.
You are a human being first and it’s very natural that you have emotions and you have flaws too, you are vulnerable and you have many imperfections. Embrace yourself for who you are and do not try to fit into any predefined image that is set by society. You do not even need to prove yourself to anyone else. Break yourself free from the societal conditioning and limiting self-belief patterns that make it difficult for you to see your true beauty and power.
When you find yourself trapped between your inner voice and what society tells you, always walk on the path that makes you feel right, as this is the only path that leads to true happiness. Always be true to yourself.
The people who are right for you will always love and appreciate you for your authentic self. So be patient and keep being your amazing self. Try to ignore the expectations and comparisons that people throw at you. You do not need to compete with anyone and the only person you need to be better than is the person you were yesterday. There is no need to pretend or put on a mask to be someone you are not.
Do not seek validation from others
Do not seek approval and acceptance from others for your worth. Do not succumb to the pressure of unreasonable demands of any kind. Seeking approval and acceptance from others will only make you feel helpless, sad, angry, and unhappy and you will not be able to live life to the fullest. Think less about who you are to others and more about who you are to yourself. Stop seeking validation from others as this will save you from disappointments.
Do not focus on pleasing others
You must understand that you cannot please each and everyone, so stop focusing on proving your worth to others. To put everyone else’s needs before yours every time will make you feel over-committed and you will feel more anxious and upset. This way you will end up depleting your energy and find yourself depressed from overdoing it.
So, refrain from indulging in pleasing others. Whenever you find it difficult to say no to others, just remind yourself that it is not your duty to fulfill the needs of everyone around you. Please remember that it is not your responsibility to make everyone happy all the time.
Take charge of your life
It’s your life and no one else knows what is best for you. Be realistic and do not expect others to understand you. Take charge of your life, you are capable of making choices so be confident to follow your dreams without the fear of being judged by others.
Do not let the opinions of others distract you, it is your life and you don’t need to worry about what other people think.
Be confident, take the steps that you feel are right for you, and walk on your chosen path confidently. Don’t be afraid of failures or mistakes, take them as your learning experience eventually they will only make you strong and powerful.
Speak up for yourself
If you want to be heard then there is no other way than to speak up. Rediscover the powerful being that resides within. Believe in yourself and voice out your opinions and express yourself. Find the courage to speak for your rights and do not be afraid to speak your truth even if your voice trembles. Be it in personal or professional life, speaking up for yourself will bring change for you. Let your voice be heard to create awareness and eventually people will hear the message.
Nurture and care for yourself
In general, women always put themselves last, because women are always caring for those around them. If you are also one such woman, you need to understand that by neglecting your own mental and physical well-being you will end up tired, stressed out, and emotionally exhausted. So it is always good to think about your own needs and take good care of yourself so that you can stay more in control, balanced, healthy, and well. It’s good to devote some time for self-care as it will make a huge positive difference in your life.
Looking after yourself and putting yourself first enables you to meet the needs of others more effectively. Moreover, it’s ok to prioritize your needs first if you are sick, totally exhausted, feeling overworked.
Engage in activities that nourish you and help you to maintain your overall mental and physical well-being. Keep your passion alive and take time out for doing things that make you feel happy. Connect with a good friend, read a good book, allow yourself me-time and sit quietly for a few minutes and hours, buy yourself a beautiful dress or flowers to brighten up your mood, take time out to watch your favorite show, go for a walk and enjoy this time away from work and family, ask for help if you are finding it difficult to manage on your own. You can add anything to this list of self-care as it helps you feel more connected to yourself and even to those around you.
